Staying true to its mission "To preserve and promote Armenian Culture through the art of dance", the Sayat Nova Dance Company has and will perform anywhere for any organization, Armenian or otherwise, regardless of affiliation. We perform at festivals, fundraisers, and special events. We are open to collaborations with other dance companies and styles of dance.

Sayat Nova Dance Company's performances are exciting and full of energy. Director Apo Ashjian's unique choreography is a perfect blend of traditional ethnographic dance with modern flair. Our production will have you at the edge of your seat while taking you on an emotionally charged tour of Armenian history.

In August 2016 Boston Landmarks Orchestra commissioned Boston composer Kareem Roustom to create a new orchestral arrangement for Sayat Nova.

Performance Packages

  • Full Show

    Approximate two-hour show with one intermission, usually a single SNDC production or a combination of two productions, with a storyline or a medley of dances. Ideal for major celebrations and fundraisers, or simply showcasing Armenian culture. Full shows are performed in venues with stages 38 feet wide minimum, lighting, audio, and visual capabilities. Special effects capabilities are optimal.

  • Half Show

    Approximately one hour show, usually a production of medley of dances tailored to the occasion. These shows are ideal when sharing the stage with another performer at major celebrations or fundraisers. Stage and technical requirements are the same as a full show, however a variety of venues can be considered.

  • Appearance (Side Show)

    The duration of the performance depends on the request, usually 20-30 minutes. Tailored to the occasion and performed at venues with different capabilities. SNDC will request venue information to decide if we are able to perform. As a rule of thumb, the stage must be big enough to hold at least 12 dancers.
